Latest news on Ben Roethlisberger, the famous NFL Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, is being investigated by Georgia police for sexual assault.

Ben Roethlisberger is being investigated of sexual assault, according to the latest news. Georgia police have opened the investigation after receiving allegations of the possible sexual offense. The NFL Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback denies the allegations.

"He's been identified as being at the scene and there are allegations naming him as the perpetrator," Deputy Police Chief Richard Malone said in a statement.

Roethlisberger was at a popular nightclub on Thursday night in Milledgeville, Georiga. He had been with three other people who were mingling with another group that included the alleged victim. Malone said the woman and her party contacted a nearby police officer following the alleged assault.

The nightclub immediately turned into a crime scene. The nature of the assault was not described, but Malone did confirm it was a sexual assault, not a rape. Roethlisberger and the alleged victim were interviewed and the woman was taken to a hospital and later released.

However, this isn't the first time for Roethlisberger. The quarterback had been involved in another sexual assault case. A lady in Reno, Nevada had reported she was raped by Ben Roethlisberger. He denied the claims and said that he would fight the charges.

Roethlisberger was selected 11th overall in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He signed a six-year contract worth $22.26 million in salaries and bonuses. He also gets an additional $17.73 million from incentives.

He was touted by former Steelers coach Bill Cowher as a franchise quarterback. On March 4, 2008, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Roethlisberger agreed to an eight-year worth $102 million. Roethlisberger has stated that he wants to retire as a Steeler.

Roethlisberger did not immediately step in as the starting quarterback for the Steelers. He was the number 3 starting position behind Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch. When Batch was injured in the preseason, he moved up to number 2. Maddox started and was injured in the third-quarter.

Roethlisberger stepped in for his first NFL action. Despite spurring a mild comeback, the Steelers lost the game. Maddox's injury changed the Steelers original plan for Roethlisberger. He was supposed to sit on the bench and learn the team's system.

However, he started the third game of the season. As a rookie, he went to 13-0 in the regular season as a starting quarterback, which helped Pittsburgh to become the first AFC team to have 15 wins in a single season. On January 5, 2005, Roethlisberger was unanimously selected as the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.
